Why is happiness so important while attending college?  I was wondering this exact thing, and this is why I am writing this blog.  Here at our Cornell Collegetown apartments student housing company, we are responsible for close to 300 tenants.  It had me thinking if they were happy while attending Cornell University? Then I was thinking how important is it that they are happy?  We know how demanding an Ivy Leaguer college is.  This in my mind can cause a lot of stress and may lead to the opposite at times.  In walking around I see a lot of smiling and laughing faces day to day so this must not be entirely true.

How Important is It?

This is the question I wanted to get to the bottom of.  In reading up on this subject happiness at college is extremely important.  Happiness can lead to being more productive, more effective, and even healthier.  One study that followed college students for years found that the ones that were happier while in college had higher incomes than those that were unhappy.  To me, that seems like it is very important.  I know there is a whole world outside of our tenants’ student apartment rentals near Cornell.  We keep our tenants happy with comfortable and beautiful places to live and they need to work on this happiness in there day to day to living.

Where Does Cornell Rate?

It is really good to know in a study by premiumschools.org, that Cornell ranks in the top 25 happiest Universities in the country!  This is no surprise due to the beauty of the landscape and the university itself.  I love to see students sitting beside a waterfall or on the slope overlooking the lake.  I mean Ithaca and Upstate NY are one of the prettiest places in the country and are always highly rated in that aspect.  For our tenants in our affordable apartment rentals in Collegetown please take some time to enjoy this beauty.  Go to the falls, go for a swim and take advantage of all there is to offer!
