Tips on How to Make Searching For Off-Campus Housing at Cornell Efficient

If you’re interested in living in student apartment rentals in Ithaca for the 2019-2020 year and don’t have experience renting apartments near Cornell, please understand that every year students start securing their housing earlier and earlier. This year, students are searching before they get back from summer vacation!

That being said, we would like to give you a few pointers to help make searching for apartments for rent near Cornell more efficient.

If you’re planning to live off campus and with other people, make sure everyone has their parent’s permission. We’ve seen groups fall apart because when it actually comes to signing a lease, someone hasn’t gotten permission and then it holds up your process tremendously while you’re trying to find another group member.

Knowing what you’re ideal price point is for rent including utilities, laundry, wifi and off street parking is important to help you narrow down your search.

Some of your group members may have different budgets and that’s okay because most units with character, such as ours, don’t have identical bedrooms. This can allow you to prorate so you can all enjoy living together. Some people can pay a little more and others a little less based on the size of the bedroom or perhaps just room preference.

Happy house hunting!
